Backups

Backup is typically the most important task. When a system fails, and inevitably all systems do, backups are crucial.

Device Firmware

Firmware does not require any backup. If a device fails, then the correct firmware version can be installed on a new hardware device. New hardware will have a new MAC address and therefore the system will require some reconfiguration.

System Backups

All systems are pre installed with a daily backup set at 02:00. Backups are automatically taken to the USB drive and 3 days are kept.

On a Nomad Appliance or Enthusiast system, running and deleting backups is reserved for the admin login. The everyday tablet logins can see the backups but not change them. A snapshot is also taken automatically just before a system update, so there is always a recent point to return to.
